We warmly congratulate Kenneth Johnston QC on his appointment as an Associate High Court Judge. Ken has been in Lambton Chambers since 1997, soon after it was founded. Before moving to the independent bar he had been National Managing Partner of Rudd Watts & Stone.

He has had a long and distinguished career at the bar, contributing significantly as counsel in an extraordinarily wide range of areas of both civil and criminal law, and also as chair of disciplinary tribunals for both the teaching profession and the Health Practitioners Tribunal. Generations of students at Victoria University will also remember him fondly. Ken’s warmth and generosity of spirit are legendary, and we will also miss his near-boundless enthusiasm for rugby and automobiles.

While we are sorry to say goodbye to Ken, we wish him well on the bench and are confident that he will fulfil his duties as a judge with wisdom, kindness and efficiency.
