ABOUT LAMBTON CHAMBERS

Lambton Chambers is a prestigious group of independent barristers, arbitrators and mediators who work within a collegial atmosphere to deliver a wealth of experience and expertise across diverse specialist areas. Neither a firm nor a partnership, members of Chambers practise independently and could in some cases even find themselves retained by opposing sides in the same dispute. As such, confidentiality and independence are an intrinsic part of our set up. Each member has their own computer system, secure email address and digital storage. Crucially, all members conscientiously adhere to their professional duties to avoid conflicts of interest.

HISTORY OF CHAMBERS

Lambton Chambers was established in 1996. Chambers are situated in Lambton Quay, in the heart of Wellington’s government and commercial district. The barristers who established chambers came from a range of backgrounds, but shared a collective ambition to provide an un-paralleled service to solicitors and others needing to engage dispute resolution and advocacy capacity. That remains the driving ethos.

In the 23 years since Lambton Chambers was established, the members of chambers have developed a reputation for being able to provide a first-class service. Chambers seeks to differentiate itself by combining technical excellence with approachability, practicality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Although Lambton Chambers is primarily commercial, the members of chambers offer an exceptionally wide range of experience which also encompasses public, tax, family, employment, medico-legal, maritime, aviation and criminal law.

INSTRUCTING A MEMBER OF CHAMBERS

It is most common for members of Chambers to be engaged by solicitors. However we may also receive instructions from in-house counsel or international lawyers where appropriate, and in many cases may be able to act directly for individuals or organisations.

Whilst we are often approached directly by potential clients, it is not always possible for a client to instruct a member directly due to professional regulations. However we can always advise you on how you may be able to do this using an intermediate instructing solicitor where necessary. This does not need to involve significant additional cost.

Every member of Chambers manages their own individual instructions and endeavours to make the process as straight-forward as possible. To instruct a member of Lambton Chambers, or for an initial conversation about whether to do so, please contact them directly using the contact details provided on their individual profile pages. You will find these pages to be as individual as the members themselves and that they contain plenty of useful information about each barrister’s expertise, experience, practice areas and professional background.
